NRT Young Guns Outplay MMC

KATHMANDU, Sept 25: The young bloods of New Road Team (NRT) on Saturday knocked an experienced Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club (MMC) out of the San Miguel Knockout Football Tournament with a 1-0 victory at the Dasharath Stadium on Saturday.

A lone goal from Subash Gurung in the added time of the first half was enough to seal the victory for NRT over MMC studded with big names of Nepali football. Capitalizing on a defensive error by MMC defender Deepak Bhusal, Gurung made a skilful show in the box before firing the ball past the net.





Sports Congress Kicks Off

KATHMANDU, Sept 25: The First Sports Congress commenced at the Godavari Village Resort on Saturday after the row between the National Sports Council (NSC) and the Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) over the appointment of chef-de-mission for the 16th Asian Games (Asiad) was settled by the two sides.

In its bid to disrupt the Congress, NSC, the country´s apex sports body, had issued a notice to all the associations, players, coaches and referees affiliated to it not to attend the two-day event.





SPORTS BRIEFS: Balaju Lift Title

KATHMANDU, Sept 25: Balaju Dojo on Saturday lifted the title of the Sixth Bagmati Zonal Karate and Kick-boxing Championship with four gold, five silver and two bronze medals in their kitty.

Similarly, with four golds, one silver and four bronze medals, Bauddha Dojo finished second while Naraharipur Dojo took the third place honor with four golds, one silver and one bronze.





Recognition Key To Morale In Sports: Study
